The lonely dog

Our next-door neighbours have a dog, but neither Tony or I understand why. Usually they place him outside on his leash when they wake up in the morning and leave him there ’til they go to bed. It doesn’t seem like they’re interested in him at all, and he doesn’t seem to get any form of affection from them. Or attention. They just took their 3 year old son out for a walk, and the poor dog is left at home. Outside. Alone. Again.

We feel so bad for this dog. They’re not hurting him or being cruel to him, they just don’t seem to care about him at all. Not that we know how they treat him when he’s inside the house, but I seriously doubt they give him much affection there either. It makes me wonder why on earth they got him in the first place.

We both want to say something to our neighbours about this, but we never do. And we probably never will. We’re more concerned about our own comfort around our neighbours then we are about the dog. It makes us just as bad as them, doesn’t it?
